Hey, I’m Alex Ostrovsky, and you’re reading Travel and Food Guy.
I’m a family man, frequent flyer, and experienced traveler based in the suburbs of Illinois. I travel a lot, for work, for family, and because I genuinely love it. Every time I’m planning a trip, I do what most people do. I search for honest reviews from someone who has actually been there. That’s exactly what I’m building here.
What this site covers
Travel and Food Guy is honest reviews of cruises, airline lounges, hotels, restaurants, and destination experiences, written from a real family traveler’s point of view. I focus on what things actually look like, not just the highlight reel. If a room is small, I’ll tell you. If the food is incredible, you’ll hear about it. And if something isn’t worth the money, I’ll say that too.
Where I’m coming from
- 10+ years on United Airlines, currently Premier 1K, with hundreds of segments flown.
- Multiple multi-week family cruises (Royal Caribbean, including Symphony of the Seas).
- Regular access to United Clubs and Star Alliance lounges across the US, Europe, and beyond.
- Regular European, Caribbean, and US travel, both family trips and work travel.
- No sponsorships, no comps, no free meals in exchange for coverage. If that ever changes for a single review, I’ll say so.
My family
Most of my content is filtered through a family lens. My wife Vika, my son Josh, and my daughter Emily are part of the journey, and their perspectives shape how I evaluate every experience. What works for a couple might not work for a family of four, and I think that distinction matters more than most reviews acknowledge.
YouTube
I also run a YouTube channel where I post full video walkthroughs of everything I review here. If you prefer watching to reading, head over to @travelandfoodguy and subscribe. I’m sharing everything we discover, trip by trip.
How I work
I have an Editorial Policy that lays out exactly how I decide what to review, how I pay for trips, and what to expect when something is comped or sponsored. There’s also a Disclaimer page covering affiliate links and pricing.
